origin of your username: The first three Dune books and the 2000 and 2003 Sci-Fi Channel miniseries hit me hard. I've been Chani in online and offline spaces ever since :)

i always order this food: Anything vegetarian and/or carb-loaded! I love trying new foods but also have a few dietary requirements, so I rarely order the same thing over and over

current overused emoji: 🥰 in messengers, 👎 / 👐 / 💯 in fannish communities (guess the two fandoms!)

Since this is already tagged "birthday": I turned 40 this week! Still no gray hair in sight, I'm a little pouty about that. I got a magnolia tree, two boardgame expansions, automatic salt and pepper grinders, and a fannish book from my loved ones. I feel very seen :)

Hi, I'm Chani (she/her) and I'm trying to get back into blogging!

I thought I'd try to get a few active DW bloggers together, so this is a little intro post. I'm in my 40ies, so I'm probably considered to be an old-school member of fandom. Despite always having been the youngest in my fandom circles ;)

I got my start into fandom on livejournal in 2005, almost all of which is backed up on this DW (I'd advise against archaeology, but you do you!). My main fandom interactions have been on tumblr ever since the rats fled the sinking ship. I'm firmly a slasher, but the occasional gen or OT3 will wiggle its way through. I'm currently very much into Dan & Phil, Heated Rivalry and Project Hail Mary. Forever fandoms include Teen Wolf, Stargate (Atlantis and SG-1), Leverage, The Witcher, Xena, Giga Games, The Tribe, Merlin, His Majesty's Dragon, The Eagle and many more estranged lovers (Supernatural, Hockey RPF, Sherlock, the usual problem children).

In brickspace I'm a librarian of the metadata genus. I'm married, have two cats, a large book and boardgame collection, and feel like I move house too often (just one more time!). English is not my first language, but I'll rarely post in German.

being in fandom

I've not really been active in fandom for years and years. I think my last proper OTP was Sterek in Teen Wolf!

But recently I've been so happy being in the Dan and Phil fandom and found a prolific OTP in Heated Rivalry, that I kind of feel the need to be involved a little more.

I've started with updating my AO3 account, which now contains a whopping 68 works and doubling the works in the Giga Games fandom instantly. Almost half of which was written in 2005, which was half a lifetime ago, and it was fun to page through the old blogs and communities. I also made a couple covers for Heated Rivalry podfics and might offer them to the readers to use in their AO3 posts. I volunteered to beta read a tumblr mutual's Heated Rivalry fic, which I haven't done since... 2007 maybe?

I'm also in love with the Hail Mary movie and happily reblogging fanart on tumblr, which continues to be my main fandom space.

For those not following me on twitter: I very probably have a herniated disk (Bandscheibenvorfall). I had an MRT yesterday, but won't get the results until Monday. There might be an operation in my future.

This leaves me with lots of time on my hands... which means I'll finally do the promised / threatened friend cuts. This time it'll include active journals too, as I really don't know about half of you o_O So yeah, doing that now.

Afterwards I think I'll have a Suits re-watch. Or catch up on Game One. Probably both, as I'm banned from work the entire next week.

Why no one on LJ is getting notifications. Oh LJ, things like this are the reason I have a DW account and let my paid LJ run out. I should probably get my DW prettied up next *sighs*

But I still have issues with DW, namely that lots of my friends still aren't t/here and that I don't have that nifty LJ Hook add-on. Typing my own links is just so haaard *g* (Or is there one finally? Tell me about it, oh DW-savvy people!)

And in news that are not about the HARDNESS of my life: Live Coverage from 8.9 magnitude earthquake that hit the north-east of Japan triggering a tsunami that has caused extensive damage. Holy crap.

I dislike "funny" Supernatural episodes.

This is what Jensen's comedy face looks like to me. Only less cute.

The sad thing is, I'd have probably liked the entire episode if they had left out the slapstick stuff.
